How I created this painting
Milton is painted onto a pre-primed gallery grade canvas. He is painted using acrylic colours, several brushes and other soft applicators (sounds interesting?). Milton measures 24 x 30 inches (61 x 76cm approx.)
Why I created it
Well he was painted in several stages and at each stage the colour was getting stronger and stronger so I let everything out and just went for something that reminded me of flying kites in the sky on a summers' day.
What's going on in this painting?
Overall I think this is a very happy piece of art. I created a strong linear base layer and left it. Then I created some intersecting shapes and colour-fills to create a depth and content. Finally I went berserk with the colours and, whilst listening to Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance March No.1, created the striking piece you see in the pictures. To be honest I can't remember too much about painting it as I was lost in some other world. It's a great place to be actually.
