The last few days have seen a flurry of activity around a set of new works I am planning. Unusually for me I have decided to produce a run of paintings depicting the planets in our solar system, mainly thanks to the inspiring words of our friendly diner proprietor on the estate where my studio is. His suggestions made complete sense so I began to conceive how I would tackle such a project based on the kind of art I paint and the techniques I use to produce it.
The first in this series will be Jupiter. There are two pictures of the raw canvas below. I got the big spot of colour in there and I have carefully put in all the detail of the swirling chemical clouds that the planet is famous for. Overall I am chuffed to bits at how it has come out. The canvas is still drying so the pleasure of stretching and stapling is yet to come (oh great!). It was very technically complex but well worth the effort. In addition I have also put in some shots of my mixing area and some of my completed works ready to be sold.
