Rudy was conceived on a warm sunny day in my studio – bathed with acres of natural light. I fancied a particular blue in my array of colours so I began to move the paint around the canvas, making some very interesting shapes as I progressed. I added varying segments of colours, including fluorescent orange and yellow, to build up the colurs evenly. It was only by chance I happened to draw some arcs and sweeps onto the canvas but it soon became apparent that this movement of paint was really going to suit the colour and shape of the paint applications. The end result is a beautifully balanced and incredibly joyous painting that fills the room with positive energy and light.
