On looking back at this painting I realise that it reminds me of stars and the night sky – especially when you see some of the amazing pictures on TV from the Hubble Space Telescope. The background is heavy with paint and as such has some interesting raised areas of texture. This was mixed with some fluorescent paints so Cosmo will glow in the dark when exposed to a UV light source.
I used a secretive application technique to produce the three colours in the main body of the painting – these were painted in enamels paints. I think these almost look like a stellar nebula or something like that. The use of the white enamel accent shapes in the centre add a lightness and a focal point whilst also bringing all the other elements together
