Desert Rose is an original piece of art that is for sale and ready to hang. She was painted using fifteen shades of acrylic paints (including metallics) onto a pre-stretched 8oz canvas. She measures 165cm x 134cm x 60mm deep and the price INCLUDES a handmade satin finish, recessed type Italian hardwood frame (complete with hangers on the reverse).
It is very difficult to paint perfect circles freehand so I decided early on that I would do my best to achieve that by carefully linking a number of them together with half and one-third arcs (which I am able to control more accurately with my fore-arm sweeps). In certain areas this linking movement has helped define a feeling of togetherness and flow between competing shapes. I think that without this the painting would struggle to cope with all the shapes that are fighting for position. I am delighted by the way I have brought shapes together in a continuous series of movements. This is the single element that brings the whole painting together.
The use of a wide colour palette has given more scope to be extravagant but I have been very cautious in how and where the blending of colour has been applied. The result is dark and mysterious with undertones of the middle east perhaps and thoughts of the Mediterranean
There are one or two minor nicks on this beautiful frame which you should be aware of if you are considering buying; I have accounted for this in the price already. They are, thankfully, barely noticeable. Unfortunately I knocked it getting it up the stairs in my unit…

I was exploring art images on the internet just for fun and came across your website. Congratulations – it is great.
I can only afford prints but have fallen in love with your canvas ‘Desert Rose’ . Is there any chance of a print of that becoming available in future, or of me buying a photo of it from you?
I have also passed on your details to the Art teacher at the school where I work.
Thank you for making my day more interesting and more beautiful.
Regards
Gemma
