Flaming June
Great if you love purple, great if you love detail, actually it's just a great painting!

Well, where do I begin with this action packed purple modern art painting? Those velvety-rich, deep purples and variations of mauve, pink and violet turn this painting into an assault on the senses that spans every single square inch of the canvas. The almost mirror-like gloss finish bounces light across the surface as you move around it; producing a visual feast that needs to be seen to be appreciated. Burgundy, purple, red and white is a combination that works so well together. The use of all the others is limited so that they blend with these four colours alone. Doing this allows me to create an almost infinite level of tonal variation. Although difficult to see there’s a big fluorescent dash in the middle of the canvas – adding yet more drama and intrigue.

In many ways the sight of a piece of purple modern art can be seen as healing and aspirational. I agree. As a range of colours it possesses a quiet air of self-confidence as well as a sense of dignity and pride. I can see this piece at home in a white room, a grey-walled room or a space complimented with light natural tones. Accessorize around it, once hung, if you have to. You’ll have a ball picking out colours to match with.

Size and materials

Flaming June is painted in my blend of enamel paints. He is painted onto a flat piece of Italian close weaved canvas, coated three times with primer. When dry he was stretched around a seasoned timber frame made from Dutch hardwoods (via sustainable forestry) with all staples on the reverse and corner tensioning wedges installed. The result is a truly hand-made piece of modern art that stretches all the way around the edges. Signed on the reverse by me.

He is resistant to UV fading and to temperature fluctuations (making him ideal for almost any kind of space and environment). He measures 180cm x 120cm x 44mm deep.
