Raul is painted onto a flat sheet of 11oz triple primed canvas then stretched over a 38mm kiln-dried timber frame and stapled on the reverse. He is painted using industrial grade enamel gloss paints thinned to my own unique formula. Raul measures 5ft by 4ft (152 x 1222 cm).
For once I kept calm, uninterrupted and relaxed in my work. In a brief moment of nothingness I painted Raul. Warm, rich and sunny blends of red and cornflower yellow melt into a playful and light base of white twists and turns whilst overlooked by that huge dominant black and green application off to one side. Delicate and relaxing, simple yet compelling, hard yet light – Raul is a confident mix of opposites that sit well together. Often the simplest of ideas become perfectly expressed when applied with conviction and belief. Sometimes simplicity is the kindest servant… This is going to look great in any room setting.
