Sergio measures 90cm by 90cm. He is painted onto a 38mm gallery wrapped canvas and was painted using acrylic and industrial enamel paints
Wow – I can’t ever remember painting anything like this before. Sure I mix different types of paint but never in these colours and forms before.
I love the way the enamel strokes on top of the background look random but are in fact carefully thought out. I used an industrial strength of enamel paint to apply these layers which have some very interesting qualities, not least of which is the reflective nature of the shiny surface – something I have tried to capture in one of the close up shots below. Whatever way up you view this painting you can’t fail to like the fact that it’s different and unusual but still carries the unique hallmarks of my work (although you have to look carefully for them) I have been told that this looks almost oriental in it’s appearance – what do you think?
