It’s good to mix things up once in a while. I love trying new compositions and this piece is no exception. I go from wild to singular very easily in my work because I like to see where I can take a single idea. With this painting my mantra was simple – less is more. There’s no way you can appreciate the beautiful yellow and orange colours if you cover them up so I decided to let them sing on their own merit with some cleverly placed mood accents and shaping in key areas.
There is still all the movement you would expect from my art yet it is tempered by the colours; which is what this painting is all about for me. It’s not difficult to look at, it’s very easy to live with and takes no complex decoding. It is purely a celebration of colour contrasts and blends. It’s a good thing to be able to appreciate something in a very simplistic way – and how could you go wrong by hanging a piece of sunshine on your own wall?
The Tri-Tone Fascination is for sale and is painted in a selection of industrial enamels blended to my own formula, along with a small selection of acrylics. He measures 160cm x 60cm by 44 mm deep. He was painted onto a flat piece of triple primed Belgian canvas then hand stretched by me over a solid kiln-dried hardwood frame and stapled on the reverse. This piece of modern art is ready to hang. I’ll even bring to you and hang it personally – like having an art gallery in your home. Stop sitting on the fence all your life and get me to come see you with a selection of pieces that will blow your mind…
