In order to convey a message it’s sometimes necessary to be a little less vocal and a little more restrained. Very often the joy of abtractism is to find and ponder the meaning of what is and what is not being communicated. Sometimes less really is more. Venus Isle is a very easy painting to live with; her sweeping curves and effervescent lightness produce calm and tranquility. Often there is much more to see than what you can actually see…. Venus Isle creates a refreshing and unique moment each time you look at her. Her soft and gentle colouration blends into complex and balanced paint forms that effortlessly bounce from one shade to another, never too heavy and never too light. I don’t often leave room around the canvas but found huge pleasure in creating a degree of containment for the main part of the painting; I feel the arcs and flows needed it in order to bring stability and also for you to get the most out of the central part of the painting.

Venus Isle is painted in a selection of industrial enamels blended to my own formula, water-based paint and acrylics. She measures 100cm x 100cm x 38mm deep and was painted onto a pre-stretched 8oz canvas. This piece of contemporary art is ready to hang.
