Eleven Pipers Piping
The tenth day of Christmas was painted during one of four live streaming events broadcast in November and December of 2020. This particular painting was created in the third one along with two others. You can see its creation on my 12 Days of Christmas live painting stream. It is a small square abstract painting featuring yellow, blue and black paints and was created using my spin table machine.
Starting with the base coat (a mix of silver and black) this incredible abstract is very unusual in the way I put it together. Normally, these linear, line-type applied paintings are done on the floor and on a much larger scale. So it’s a break with tradition that sees me to this on a smaller canvas and three feet in the air!
And so to the spin part – I was going to spin this painting after I applied the paint but such was the strength of it just beforehand I decided to leave it that way. And what resulted is an epic painting that is almost melting off the edge of the canvas. And the details are even more incredible…
The painting measures 80cm x 80cm.
The art work was hand stretched around a seasoned timber frame so that the painting goes all the way round the edges. It has a wonderful texture thanks to the way the paint layers are built up and it comes with full certification.
