Avalon is a spin painting from my collection of small radial spin art.
It’s another variation on the principle of moving paint in a circular direction. In this instance it’s done very slowly. The advantage of being able to move something slowly is that you get ore control over what you want to do.
The idea here is to keep my spin table at about 7-10rpm and catch the colours as they come back round to where I am standing. At each pass i am able to move it, albeit very quickly, into a new position or spread it into the shape i am trying to create.
Key to the success of this painting is the use of colour and the relative volumes they occupy on the canvas. Further to that is the critical inclusion of the black separation line. It’s the bit that helps you notice turquoise and pink a whole lot better.
I think if you’re prepared to give a basic principle some very careful thought you can take it in almost any direction and give it a flavour and personality all of its own. Can’t beat a bit of original thinking.
This painting is shipped ready to hang and, although I prefer it hung like a diamond you can hang it anyway you like. Worldwide shipping is available – costs are calculated at the checkout before you decide to buy. Any problems, drop me a mail.
