Halo of Distortion is a spin painting from my collection of small radial spin art.
In a departure from some of the ideas I have already had this painting is still created using similar techniques but in a much slower and more controlled manner – at least where the main red shape was concerned.
In fact it’s a tale of two halves really. On one hand that consuming red shape is the main focus. It’s the thing that brings you in to the painting. Its curve is gentle and meandering as it moves around the centre of the canvas. In to this I’ve melted some gentle twists and loops of black to break things up a little.
Then there’s the other side of things – the psychedelic outer layers that are spun in a more traditional way and at greater speeds. These are carefully laid out so as not to interfere with the main red shape in the middle.
Someone has already said it reminds them of poppies and remembrance. I like that.
This painting is shipped ready to hang and, although I prefer it hung like a diamond you can hang it anyway you like. Worldwide shipping is available – costs are calculated at the checkout before you decide to buy. Any problems, drop me a mail.
